Principal Medical Writer (Commercial)

The Principal Medical Writer (commercial) will be responsible for confidently developing engaging copy within brand communications across several accounts. The writer will ensure a strong narrative is told throughout all materials we produce, including but not limited to, sales rep materials, objection handlers, web-based projects and internal communications. The Principal Medical Writer will also be responsible for supporting more junior members of the team, through coaching or providing constructive feedback. Finally, they will lead and participate in creative proposals and pitches for their accounts and/or potential new clients in key therapy areas.

As a Principal Medical Writer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing and writing engaging, accurate and fully referenced copy for selected accounts and reviewing other team members work on these accounts to ensure high quality deliverables
  • Developing and writing copy for different media including sales rep materials, digital deliverables and other creative activities
  • Work closely with the creative team to concept and develop innovative solutions, including through partaking in new business pitches
  • Act as in-house therapy area expert within 1 or 2 disease areas
  • Attend client and thought-leader meetings and teleconferences, leading on the content discussions as appropriate
  • To ensure all work allocated is executed within the timeline and schedule provided and to record all hours worked accurately on Synergist

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Existing experience within healthcare advertising/communications, with experience of writing for different audiences
  • Educated to MSc of PhD level in life sciences or relevant area
  • Therapy area experience across 3 or 4 disease areas
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work simultaneously on more than one project
  • Ability to provide realistic ideas for projects which deliver on client’s objectives
  • Ability to write accurately and creatively in a fast-paced environment and to meet reasonable timelines.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Medical Writer to deliver across an array of projects which focus on rare and ultra-rare diseases. This team have been recently partnering with one of our main clients on the launch of a gene therapy for an ultra-rare disease, working on both the medical and commercial side. The Senior Medical Writer will also be responsible for supporting junior members of the team, either through coaching or review of their work and providing constructive criticism. Finally, the senior medical writer will participate in proposals and pitches for their accounts and/or potential new clients in their key therapy areas.

As a Senior Medical Writer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing and writing engaging, accurate and fully referenced copy for selected accounts and reviewing other team members work on these accounts to ensure high quality deliverables
  • Developing and writing copy for different media including, but not limited to, digital applications, web-based projects, print materials, storyboards, slide decks and meeting materials
  • Take the role of scientific lead on medium-sized account(s), with support from a senior team member, where appropriate
  • Act as in-house therapy area expert within 1 or 2 disease areas
  • Participate in the development and delivery of proposals for new business, including within their designated accounts and in therapy areas where they have specific experience

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

Account Executive

We’re looking for an Account Executive to contribute to the planning and delivery of account activities to the client’s satisfaction , ensuring quality deliverables on time and within budget. Ensuring that all project work is completed in accordance with processes, policies and practices.

As an Account Executive you will be responsible for the following:
  • Provide support to client services team members in the development and delivery of account activities for external customers
  • Attend client teleconferences and where appropriate, meetings, alongside other members of the account or project team. Maintain client contact as appropriate with the direction of other members of the account team
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of identified account activities; assist with the coordination of schedules for allocated projects or items in conjunction with account manager, keeping account manager informed of progress; liaise with internal departments as appropriate to coordinate delivery of projects
  • Develop and maintain overview of project budgets and track regularly to ensure cost effective delivery of projects, reviewing with Account Manager regularly to identify any issues
  • Undertake background research for, assist in development of new business and current account proposals where appropriate. Assist account manager in the identification of any potential needs of existing clients
  • Become familiar with the therapeutic areas of projects and develop understanding of client objectives, in addition to growing an understanding of pharmaceutical communications strategies and industry

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Good level of experience within a healthcare communications agency or scientific arena
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain demanding timelines. Adaptability and flexibility to changing priorities and ability to work simultaneously on multiple priorities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Flexible personality and a quick learner who operates with a sense of urgency
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including developing customer service skills
