Scientific Director

We are seeking an experienced Scientific Director to join one our medical teams working with a defined cluster of Global, EU and US clients, including on the EU launch of a new gene therapy in an ultra-rare paediatric disorder this year. In our agile and autonomous structure, you will lead and manage a team of talented medical writers who are all driven to transform lives by inspiring change that has a positive impact on people’s health. You will have oversight to manage the planning, delivery and quality of writing activities to the client’s satisfaction, ensuring delivery on time and within budget. Alongside your client services and strategist colleagues, you can also play an active role in business development with both new and existing clients, including on pitches.

As a Scientific Director, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Leading a small team of in-house medical writers and freelancers (where required) to deliver the company’s projects from a scientific content perspective.
  • Providing oversight of all medical writing output from the team including final release
  • Working on new business proposals and pitches, leading the scientific elements, ensuring that proposals are in line with scientific strategy for the product and overseeing proposal development to ensure quality.
  • Working with the Client Services team in the planning, budgeting and allocation of medical writing resource to ensure accurate budgeting in proposals and appropriate resourcing for live projects.
  • Overseeing the development and facilitation of external client ad boards, workshops and expert panels and meetings
  • Managing team members in accordance with Company policies, including recruitment, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance and guiding professional development and addressing employee relation issues as required.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • 6+ years experience in a healthcare agency environment or similar with clear career progression
  • Significant expertise and experience in medical writing and scientific strategy within an agency environment
  • Demonstrated ability to line manage junior team members, with experience of giving annual appraisals, writing objectives and measuring performance.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and projects to deadlines and budgets.
  • Be an excellent presenter with experience of proposal writing, pitching and giving new business presentations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, managers and clients.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree plus MSc in relevant subject, a Medical Degree or PhD in relevant area is desirable.

Account Director

We are seeking an experienced Account Director or Senior Account Director to join one our client service teams working with a defined cluster of Global, EU and US clients, including on the EU launch of a new gene therapy in an ultra-rare paediatric disorder this year. In our agile and autonomous structure, you will lead and manage a team of talented Client Services colleagues who are all driven to transform lives by inspiring change that has a positive impact on people’s health. You will have oversight to manage the planning and delivery of account activities and programmes to the client’s satisfaction, ensuring delivery on time and within budget. Alongside our senior Medical and Brand strategists, you can also play an active role in business development with both new and existing clients, including leading pitches.

As an Account Director or Senior Account Director, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Acting as the day to day contact with clients including attendance at teleconferences, face to face meetings and via telephone contact. Managing client handling skills of junior team members. Cultivating strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers within client teams and developing in-depth knowledge of the customer organisation.
  • Taking responsibility for the growth of a portfolio of customer accounts, taking ownership of the emotive relationship with the clients. Maintaining high visibility within customer organisation, developing strong relationships with key client contacts and senior level client stakeholders and obtaining regular feedback.
  • Providing senior counsel and leadership to clients, cultivating strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers and assisting them to achieve their goals through the proposal and development of high quality communications solutions.
  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of customer organisations and high visibility within them, generating quality contact with senior-level client stakeholders both within client teams, franchises, procurement teams and communications leads / heads.
  • Taking responsibility for financial performance of allocated accounts, including meeting revenue and profitability targets. Proactively initiating actions to maximise growth and profitability of accounts. Providing sign off for identified budgets.
  • Taking an active role in new business development, helping to secure and respond to RFPs, contributing and sometimes leading pitches and winning new work.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • 5+ years experience in a healthcare agency environment or similar with clear career progression
  • Good knowledge of all aspects of medical communications including key tactical services

Reviewing projects for quality assurance and high standards in conjunction with project editors. Ensuring final sign-off on all projects before they go to client and or into production.
  • Participating in proposal development and presentations, often being part of a pitch team for new business; Presenting internally and externally.
  • Delegating and briefing in activities to team members as appropriate; coaching and supporting the development of junior team members as appropriate. Assisting in monitoring workloads and development opportunities of junior team members and flagging to senior team members as appropriate.
  • Managing all account finances, including development of account budgets, liaison for sign off, tracking of servicing levels and reporting on profitability. Ensuring regular updates are provided to the Account Director.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • 3+ years experience in a healthcare agency environment or similar with clear career progression
